Jana Firestone

Jana Firestone is a therapist with a degree in psychology and a Master’s in counselling, and has spent the last 17 years working intensively with grief and trauma and with young people and their families.

Her professional life has seen her working in Child Protection, with Victims of Crime and at The Coroners Court of Victoria. She has spent the last decade working in a school setting and in private practice with children and adults alike, including specialised work with elite athletes.

Having lost her mother suddenly at the age of 21, Jana transformed her tragedy into the driving force behind her success. She is an accomplished freelance storyteller, writing stories and features on everything from travel to innovations and technology.

Developing her skills across the therapeutic and creative worlds provided Jana with the ultimate foundation to launch The Curious Life Podcast in 2019.

Jana is a highly skilled and compassionate interviewer and has talked to some of Australia’s most well-loved television, media and sports personalities about how they have turned their tragedies into triumphs. She has a unique ability to inspire and engage listeners in their own abilities to overcome life’s challenges.

In January 2022 she published her first book, Embracing Change and due to the response from readers and the media, she has developed a new podcast in recognition of the need. The Days That Follow, is a grief recovery podcast, sharing stories of hope that follow the hardest moments in life.

Jana has been featured across a wide range of print and digital media, sharing her personal and professional expertise.

Jana is a mother of three young boys and expertly balances the demands of a young family, podcasts, writing, counselling and running a small business, with good-natured humour and a commitment to bringing inspiring human stories to light.
